YWIB-Greater Montreal: Immersion at the Optometry School

On February 21, 2025, YWIB-Greater Montreal held a special event at the School of Optometry at the University of Montréal, bringing together 20 high school students to explore the diverse fields of optometry research. The goal was to introduce students to the many research avenues within optometry. The event began with a discussion on women in research, highlighting the challenges they may face in their careers. Students participated in hands-on workshops covering psychophysics and ocular movements, visual impairment awareness and rehabilitation, 3D modeling and printing, and microscopy exploration throughout the day. The high school students discovered an area of research they were not aware of and really liked the diversity of workshops organized by the volunteers.
